Words from the Life of Jesus

Here is a reading based on some of Jesus’ words from his years of ministry.  They were compiled by Grace Church in London.

More words from the life of Jesus

And then for three years, an abundance of words from God,
spoken by the Word, Jesus.

The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
"Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."

Come and follow me
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,
where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where moth and rust do not destroy,
and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Your sins are forgiven
Father, forgive them.
They don’t know what they are doing.

Mary do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father.
Go instead to my brothers and tell them,
'I am ascending to my Father and your Father,
to my God and your God.' "

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
