If your worship this week includes the reading of Matthew 14:22-33—the story of Jesus walking on the water—here’s a video you might want to consider. 

Faith on a Wire (by Dan Stevers) tells the story of Charles Blondin, a French tightrope walker who, in 1859, decided to try to walk a tightrope over Niagara Falls. It’s a wonderful illustration of what it means to truly have faith.

Video Suggestions: Romans 10:5-15

Here are a few video suggestions for those of you working with Romans 10:5-15, one of the lectionary texts for August 7, 2011 (Proper 14A).  These suggestions relate primarily to verses 14-15:

Video Suggestion: Bread of Life

If your worship includes a look at Isaiah 55:1-5 and Matthew 14:15-21 (the feeding of the five thousand), you might want to check out a video from The Work of the People called Bread of Life.  (I can't seem to get their embed code to work, so you'll need to visit their site to view it.)

Video: A Gamer's View of the Bible

Here’s an interesting video by Max7, called “Bigger than the World Itself.”  It would make an interesting addition to a worship service which explored the role of Scripture in our lives.  It’s a look at the Bible from a gamer’s perspective.

While you’re there, you might also be interested in taking a look at “What is the Bible Like?”  It would make a good visual introduction to a children’s feature or sermon on Scripture. Their description: “Waffle takes a look in the Bible and finds it full of amazing things.”
