Benediction: Proper 11A

Here are a couple of benedictions suitable for July 17, 2011, the fifth Sunday after Pentecost.  They are based on Psalm 139:1-12, 23-24, one of the suggested lectionary passages for that Sunday.

Benediction
(based on Psalm 139:7-12)

As we leave this place, let’s not forget:
There is no where we can go where God is not.
Everywhere we go, God goes before us.
From the farthest ocean to the highest mountain,
from the heights of joy to the depths of despair—
wherever we find ourselves, God is already there.
So go in peace,
for we do not go alone.

Benediction
(based on Psalm 139:7-12)

Wherever you go this week, know this:
God knows you better than you know yourself.
No matter where you go or what you do,
God is already there,
surrounding you with mercy
and guiding you with love.
So go with joy and confidence,
knowing that God goes with you.
