Litany of Release

Opening Litany
(based on Matthew 11:28-30 and Psalm 145:8-14)

Hear this invitation, from our Lord Jesus Christ himself:
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you.
Let me teach you,
because I am humble and gentle at heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy to bear,
and the burden I give you is light.”

Sung response:  We will lay our burden down (Iona Community)

The Lord always keeps his promises;
he is gracious in all he does.
The Lord upholds all who are falling,
and raises up all who are bent beneath their loads.

Sung response:  We will lay our burden down (Iona Community)

The Lord is merciful and compassionate,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
The Lord is good to everyone.
showering compassion on all his creation.

Sung response:  We will lay our burden down (Iona Community)

Together with all of creation,
we give You thanks, O Lord!
We will tell of your glory and power,
and make Your wonderful deeds known to all people.
For Your reign is a reign for all ages,
and all generations.  Amen.
