Benediction: Psalm 145

Here are a couple of benedictions based on Psalm 145, one of the suggested texts for July 3, 2011 (Proper 9A), and one of the alternate texts for July 31, 2011 (Proper 13A).

Benediction 1
(based on Psalm 145:8, 13)

As you go from here, remember this:
The God we serve is merciful and compassionate,
endlessly patient and full of faithful love.
He is trustworthy in all that he says,
and faithful in all that he does.
So go out in confidence,
knowing that God goes with you.

Benediction 2
(based on Psalm 145:13-14)

As you leave this place, remember:
God always keeps his promises.
He is unfailingly gracious toward us.
When we stumble, he is there to catch us;
when we are weighed down by grief or trouble,
he is there to strengthen and encourage us.
So go from here in the knowledge
that the love and mercy of God goes with you.
