Here’s a responsive call to worship based on passages from Isaiah 9 and Isaiah 60 (NRSV). It comes from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship website.
Call to Worship
(based on Isaiah 9, 60)
Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
For darkness shall cover the earth,
and thick darkness the peoples;
but the Lord will arise upon you,
and his glory will appear over you.
Nations shall come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
Those who lived in a land of deep darkness,
on them light has shined.
Let us celebrate the Light of the world,
for upon us has the Light shined.
