Litany: Living Stones

No Other Foundation
(1 Cor. 3:11; 1 Peter 2:4-6; Eph. 2:19-21)

One:     No one can lay any foundation other
            than the one already laid,
            which is Jesus Christ.
            For it stands in Scripture:

All:       “See, I am laying in Zion a stone,
            rejected by mortals
yet chosen and precious in God’s sight,
            and whoever believes in him
will not be put to shame.”

One:     Come to him, a living stone,
            rejected by mortals
yet chosen and precious in God’s sight,
            and like living stones,
let yourselves be built into a spiritual house.

All:       We are no longer foreigners and aliens,
but fellow citizens with God’s people
            and members of God’s household,
built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.
In him the whole building is joined together
and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord.
