Benediction for Easter 5

Here are a number of scripturally-based benedictions for the 5th Sunday after Easter (May 22, 2011).  I’ve based them on the lectionary texts for that day.  Feel free to revise and adapt them to suit your context.

Easter 5:  Benediction 1
(based on I Peter 2:10-11)

You are a chosen people.
You are royal priests, a holy nation,
God’s very own possession,
in order that you might show others the goodness of God,
who has called you out of darkness into his wonderful light!
Go from this place in confidence,
knowing that the presence and the power of God go with you!

Easter 5:  Benediction 2
(based on I Peter 2:10-11, The Message)

As you leave this place, remember this:
You are the ones chosen by God,
chosen for the high calling of priestly work,
chosen to be holy people,
God’s instruments to do his work
and speak out for him,
to tell others what God has done for you.

So go into the world;
live as God’s people,
through the grace of Jesus Christ,
and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Easter 5:  Benediction 3
(based on John 14:1-4)

Don’t let your hearts be troubled.
Trust in God, and in God’s son, Jesus Christ,
who is the way, the truth and the life,
and through whom we come to know the Father.

And may the blessing of God,
the grace of Jesus Christ,
and the presence of the Holy Spirit
go with you as you leave this place.
Amen.
