Here’s a thoughtful reflection on Mark 1:14-20, the gospel reading for January 22, 2012 (the third Sunday after Epiphany). It was written by Anne Osdieck of the Center for Liturgy Studies.
Gospel Reflection
(Mark 1: 14-20)
Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Then they abandoned their nets and followed him. Mark 1:14-20
Jesus called
Simon and Andrew.
No questions,
they dropped their nets.
they dropped their nets.
James and John left their boats
and left their father
sitting in
one.
and left their father
sitting in
one.
Jesus,
we hear you calling us.
we hear you calling us.
We want to leave our boats
and drop our nets.
Help us let
go.
and drop our nets.
Help us let
go.
