Readers' Theatre: Isaiah 55:1-5

Come, Everyone Who Thirsts!
A Readers’ Theatre Setting of Isaiah 55:1-5

One:     Come, everyone who thirsts!
            Come to the waters!

Two:    You that have no money,
            come, buy and eat!

One:     Come, buy wine and milk for free—it won’t cost you a thing!

Two:    Why do you spend your money on food that doesn’t nourish?

One:     Why do you spend your hard-earned wages
on things that will never satisfy you?

Two:    Listen carefully to Me,
and you will have good things to eat—

One:     the very best food!

Two:    Listen to my words carefully,
for if you do, you will have life.

One:     I shall make an everlasting covenant with you,
to love you as faithfully as I loved David.

Two:    I used him to display my power to the peoples of the world,
making him a leader of nations.

One:     You will also call nations you do not know—

Two:    they will come running to you!—

One:     for I, the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel,
            have made you glorious!
