Gospel Reflection: John 20: 19-31

Here’s a beautiful reflection on John 20: 19-31, the suggested gospel reading for the Sunday after Easter.  It was written by Anne Osdieck.

Gospel Reflection
(based on John 20:19-31)

He breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”  John 20:22

The Lord God formed a man out of clay
and blew into his nostrils
the breath
of life.

Jesus came and stood in their midst.
He too breathed on them.
He gave them
his Holy
Spirit.

Christ Jesus,
We also long for your Spirit and your peace.
Create new hearts in us
and fill us with your
very own
life.

Breathe your Spirit
upon us.
